June 6th, 2009 Posted by Missie at 11:30 am

Creating twitter groups is one of the most in demand features for twitter. Twitter groups allow tweeters to focus on different sets of users they are following. Available throughout many social networking sites including Facebook, group creation allows users to sort groups to their liking.

As twitter is yet to tap into the group feature, third party websites and application allow twitter users to create their own twitter virtual groups. Having the ability to sort those you follow on twitter is a time saving way of tapping into more tweets and content you would miss trying to scroll through the past tweets in your timeline.

As more third party solutions become available, we’ve composed a handy list of the most popular methods for you to create your own twitter groups.

Twitter clients

Tweetdeck - is a popular and excellent way to create groups of all your twitter followers. It also allows you to filter messages, search, few new followers and much more the way you want the groups to be displayed. You’ll need Adobe Air to run tweetdeck, and their now available with custom interfaces, the Blink 182 being our personal fav.

Websites

Tweetworks – Tweetworks allows you to create group that are public or private, and opens the abaility for you to post messages just to your group or your pulbic twitter timelime at once. The downside to this great service is that there’s a limit to how may private groups you can create. A plus is that you don’t need to sign up to the service, just use your twitter account login details.

TwitTangle – TwitTangle has taken a step above and allows you not only to create your own groups, but tag and rate your friends which ultimately filters your timelime the way you want it to be displayed. You can even drag and drop your friends into the groups you’ve created. Awesome!

Filttr – Filttr allows you to establish groups according to filters you set. It’s as easy as clicking the name you want to tadd to the groups you’ve just created.
