The Essential Twitter Dictionary

Twitter’s not only taken over our social networking habits and captured our thoughts and opinions on everything, twitter’s changed the way talk with a whole new ‘Twocabulary’ (Twitter vocabulary) invading our world. We’ve put together some of the best twitter words and sayings into a twdictionary - the essential twitter dictionary.

Twitter - A service that enables millions of people with nothing to say to say it to millions of people.
- 140ism - A miscommunication in 140 characters or fewer. Often when 140 characters were not enough.
- Attwacker - Someone that verbally assaults someone on Twitter. A.K.A., a Twamer (one who flames someone)
- BackTwound - A custom Twitter Background for business or personal use.
- Celebritweet - A celebrity who uses Twitter.
- Dweet - A tweet made, perhaps regrettably, while under the influence of alcohol
- Egotwistical - Tending to talk excessively about oneself on Twitter.
- Featherette - An underage Twitterer
- Featheropolis - Urban Twitter city
- Fly-Bye - Signing off of Twitter
- Followorthy - A Twitter user who is worthy of being followed.
- Illtwitterate - The uninitiated. For those who just “dont get it”.
- Puntwit - Someone offering opinion or criticism in an authoritative manner on Twitter. May or may not enjoy such status outside of Twitter.
- Regurg-a-Tweet - The act of re-tweeting a tweet that someone originally tweeted about you.
- Serentwipity - Funny, ironic, or thought-provoking pairing or grouping of tweets in a timeline
- Speedtweet - A grouping/list of favorite or most contacted user on twitter.
- Spitter - A Twitter spammer
- Star Twek - A tweet about or involving anything related to Star Trek. Trekkies who are also tweeple, Star Twek
- Twacklist - Twitter + blacklist
- Twam - Short for Tweet Spam
- Twance - Somebody in a twitter trance.
- Twacker - A computer programming who is hacking Twitter.
- Twawkward - Being awkward on Twitter
- Twatter - Twitter chatter.
- Twitalicious - something super awesome, twitter style.
- Twazzock - A tweeter who tweets foolish things to celebrities when they really should know better.
- Twaphasia - a language disorder where twitter speak makes its way into real life.
- Tweaven - Twitter + heaven
- Tweek - Twitter geek (Twitter + Geek)
- Tweeps - Twitter + peeps (friends)
- Tweet Vine - Means the grape vine
- Tweetheart(s) - Twitter + Sweetheart(s)
- Twewbie - Someone new to Twitter. A Twitter newbie.
- Twinfomercial - The selling of ones own product, disguised as a tweet
- Twingo - (n) Twitter lingo. The informal language and speech of Twitter users.
- Twitcrush - Declaring a crush on another twitter user.
- Twitterholic - A person who is addicted to using Twitter.
- Twitterkend - A person who spends the weekend using Twitter
- Twitterphobe - A person who is afraid of Twitter.
- Twocabulary - Twitter vocabulary.
- Twollow - (n) The act of following someone on Twitter
- Twypo - A typo on Twitter (”If you exercise regularly and died, you can lose a lot of weight.”)
- Twittery - (adjertive) - give to, or characterised by twittering.
- Twaddle - trivial, feeble, silly, or tedious talk or writing. A pre-existing word & so appropriate as a twitter term! - Thanks to @_fran_
- Twitterkend - A person who spends the weekend using twitter.
- Ttwit Twat - chit chat for twitter.
- Twendy - Twitter + trendy. As in, “All the twendy people are doing it.”
- Tweetlover - The fondness or lover of tweets.
- Twickbag - A person who is being a twickbag on twitter.
- twittersitter - someone who updates ur social media status when u are away from ur mobile.
- Twitterkend - A person who spends the weekend using twitter.
- Twequilibrium - When your number of followers exactly matches the number of people you follow.
- Twuv - Twitter love for another Tweep, Tweet, celebrity, thought, idea, remark or class of people.
- Twitterpuff - A person who uses Twitter to pat themselves on the back for their accomplishments.
- Twbot - a twitter account bot that follows you with suspicion.
- Twvision - Twitter + Television.
- Twinion - the ones who follow you on twitter.
- Tworkortunity - about work: a job opportunity.
- Twatted - 1. The past tense of tweet never used in polite company. 2. Twitter incarnation of a ‘chat’.
- Twiller - A thriller written via twitter.
- Twetin - A twitter user of subnormal intelligence. Derivation: Twitter + cretin.
- Twoll - To tweet with the intention of baiting someone into a reaction, or a person who does such a thing
- Twit-Terwoo - the sound an Owly makes on twitter.
- Twitness - witnessing a tweet you’d rather not.
- Foolower One who follows with the sole aim of trying to get followers.
- Twocabulary - Twitter vocabulary.
- Twitalicious something super awesome, twitter style.
- Tweeffic - Tweetering while stuck in traffic.
- Twork What I should be doing instead of twittering.
- Tweebra - A mix between a zebra and a bird! It tweets!
- Twhoot - “A real hoot”…. something funny OR extremely amusing, so as to cause uproarious laughter.
- Tweekative - Talking or chatting in twitter too much.
- Tweetup - Twitter + meetup: a gathering of folks based on a twitter conversation (often impromptu).
- Twavatar - Twitter avatar
- Tweetsperity - Someone who is successful, flourishing, or thriving on Twitter.
- Twictory - To solve a problem using twitter.
- Twitterholic - A person who is addicted to using Twitter. I.E Tweeterland

This is just a list that we have compiled with other tweeters…. I’m guessing there are thousands more floating around the twittersphere… It’s great to see twitter really has taken over the world…

‘twat’
the past tense of ‘twit’.
